2018 SCM SI400 Nova sliding panel saw
Sliding Table Saw
The NOVA SI 400 offers a 16-inch blade capacity making the machine one of our most versatile. It has heavy features and fast-growing shops will appreciate the ease of use and production capabilities. The SI 400 Nova is a manual machine, and was built to be accurate, repeatable, versatile, and inexpensive. This machine packs a punch without hitting your wallet too hard.
The double trunion assembly for the blade tilting is part of the blade group casting. This eliminates the possibility of misalignment which exists when these parts are bolted in the place as some manufacturers do. Others use a small pivot pin to hold up the saw group. Direct shaft drive coupled with rack and pinion gearing allows smooth, angle adjustment of the saw blade.
The SI400 Nova has a new, wider, sliding table with two channels for added versatility. This is a feature normally only found on our larger machines. The hardened steel guideways are machined into place (no glue), and are designed to last the life of the machine with no adjustments needed.
Adjusting the scoring set is quick and easy. Simply turn the dial to adjust the width of the score. This system eliminates the need for shims and the constant adjustment they require. It is fully adjustable in 0.1mm increments.
The NOVA SI 400 comes standard with an overhead saw guard.
Whether you are cutting sheet goods, or 5” thick solid wood lumber,
this guard has you covered. The guard also has a dust collection
outlet to aid in the removal of dust and other airborne particles.
The NOVA SI 400 has a steel round bar to support the rip fence.
The fence itself has a large cast-iron knuckle that rides on the round
bar. It features a sturdy cam lock, and micro adjustment feature along with a high/low aluminum fence extrusion which is completely adjustable.
The SI 400 Nova has a massive cast-iron blade group which tilts on a trunnion mechanism. This closed system allows for maximum dust removal, and is the most durable tilting design. The entire blade group raises and lowers on two steel columns, and the gear assemblies are encased in a patented mechanism which doesn’t allow dust or pitch to penetrate the joining mechanism.
The SI 400 Nova can carry a 16” blade with scoring. This translates to 5.5” of cutting height at 90 degrees. Also featured is a completely enclosed cast-iron blade group which maximizes rigidity, and which won’t go out on you over time. Other inferior systems have an open structure which allows the blade group to twist when one of the trunnions is blocked by pitch or dust, thus throwing off your entire blade group and the accuracy of your cut.
